Richard Repik '10
Richard Repik, member of Wagner College’s class of 2010, came back to campus this semester with a more global perspective. During his Winter Break, he traveled with his class and Dr. Margarita Sánchez to Argentina as part of Wagner’s new Expanding Your Horizons program.
The College sent classes of students this past January to eleven destinations, ranging from Kenya, Vietnam and Bangladesh to France, Israel and Italy. As part of his excursion abroad, Richard’s class examined the literary representations of Buenos Aires. From an interdisciplinary approach, they were able to make connections between texts read in class and real-world global experiences. This is all part of Wagner College’s unique and celebrated curriculum, The Wagner Plan for the Practical Liberal Arts, where students have the chance to gain first-hand experience in their field of interest. For Richard, during the admissions process, this was a huge selling point.
While having those one-in-a-million experiences, Richard was also attracted to Wagner College because of its “small town” feel in a large urban environment. The campus is in “one of the greatest cities in the world without the actual noise of the busy city life.” He also liked the fact that, at Wagner, he would be “more than a number in a classroom and actually get to know my professors”.
Richard encourages many of our admitted students to get to know our professors and students, too. Take the time to visit campus during the next few months and experience the close-knit community. Sit in on a class, attend an Admitted Student Day, log online to chat with our students.
While Richard is back in the United States, for now, he’s never more than a ferry ride away from a different community and another adventure. “I like seeing international communities such as Little Italy and China Town. Taking a cab or subway is always a new adventure and I love to explore”.
