Professional networking is an important step in your job/career search! Even if you are planning to go on to grad school after completing your undergraduate degree, effective networking in a professional setting can provide great insight and leads to potential career areas.

Some of the opportunities for networking provided by the CACD include:

• Student-Alumni networking receptions,speaker series, and meet-and-greets
• Classroom presentations, information tables , and career fairs 
• Events sponsored by professional associations 
•  Participating in an internship
• Talking with your professors about their career paths
• Job shadowing (a "day in the life of" experience with a Wagner alumnus at his place of employment)

Career Connections

Career Connections is one of the most important networking experiences we provide students. This program is designed to link current students with successful alumni mentors in a wide range of professions. Career connections can be accessed through the Wagner Internship and Career Search (WICS) system by clicking on "Career Connections" in the gray drop down bar.

Career Connections offers the following opportunities to connect with alumni and friends of the college:

• Attend a site visit at an alumnus/a's office or company
• "Shadow" an alumnus for a day
• Attend a lecture at Wagner about a particular industry
• Practice in a "mock interview"
• Have an informational interview over the phone or in person
• Attend a Student Alumni Netowrking Reception

Mentors have learned the values of giving back and networking. They can help you determine your career goals and provide you with accurate and detailed information about particular indsutries that you can't get from the internet or job listings. A mentor can be someone who will lend you motivational support, guide your professional behavior, listen to your concerns, and support your professional growth.
