Wagner has never seen such opportunity as the future holds for us. Nor has it ever been better equipped to attain it.
Dr. Richard Guarasci President, Wagner College

Wagner College stands alone. What we teach, how we teach, and where we learn is what sets us apart.

Wagner College has all of New York City as its classroom. The Wagner Plan capitalizes on our fortuitous location and intentionally incorporates the best that New York City has to offer into a unique structure for undergraduate education. From powerful offices on Wall Street, through the city’s diverse multi-cultural communities, to the gentle landscape of the Wagner campus, students at Wagner engage in real-world experiences as they apply what they learn in the classroom and then return to campus to reflect upon and draw meaning from it. The Wagner Plan creates a living, breathing education that improves upon more traditional but passive lecture-based approaches.

Wagner’s prestigious curriculum, its energetic faculty and students, and its perfect setting inspire a palpable vigor and passion on the campus. For increasing numbers of students from around the country and the world, Wagner is their first choice. Wagner’s extraordinary faculty excel as teachers and attract highly motivated students. An enthusiastic alumni and dedicated leadership have created this legacy of excellence.

Wagner’s strategic plan identifies four over-arching objectives that focus on the continuous improvement of Wagner as a premier urban liberal arts college: educational excellence, facilities improvement, institutional reputation and resource enhancement.

With this strategic plan, Wagner College has articulated a clear vision: to enhance the distinctive education it offers by providing students with the best possible teaching and learning  environment, which will empower them for leadership and service and ensure national recognition for Wagner and its graduates.

To achieve this vision, Wagner must continue to build upon its legacy of excellence. We must move forward by investing in our precious resources. We must retain our outstanding professors while attracting the best new faculty possible. Wagner must continue to recruit outstanding young students, no matter what their financial capacities. Wagner must provide living and learning facilities that match the aspirations of its students and its academic programs.

“Putting Wagner First: The Campaign for Wagner College” will provide the financial resources to make major investments in students, through increased scholarships and tuition assistance; in faculty, through the establishment of distinguished chairs and funding for research, scholarship, and professional development; and in the college itself, through upgrades to facilities and campus infrastructure.

The integral components are now in place to achieve this challenge.  The college’s educational excellence is evidenced through its effective curriculum, its engagement of students in the affairs of surrounding communities, and the integration of residential life with a rich array of student activities, ranging from NCAA Division I athletics to an abundance of organizations that celebrate the ethnic, religious and cultural diversity of the campus. Together, they generate the energy that bonds together motivated students, dedicated and committed faculty and staff, and accomplished and enthusiastic alumni – and that shapes the extraordinary legacy of Wagner College.

“Putting Wagner First” leverages this legacy of excellence and guarantees a future of distinction.
