Campus Life

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Hillel have a building on campus?
A: No, Wagner College Hillel does not have its own building on campus, but we do have our own office directly next to the Student Government Office. All of our Executive Board Members are required to hold office hours in the Hillel Office and they are there to answer any questions that students might have. There are also a number of spaces on campus for us to hold meetings and have events, and Wagner Hillel is great about utilizing its space.

Q: How often does Hillel have Shabbat dinner on campus?
A:
We aim to hold several Shabbat dinners on campus and if more students are interested, we try and hold as many as they like.

Q: How often does Hillel host services?
A:There are a number of synagogues on Staten Island (several of which are close to Wagner) which have regular services and we try to provide transportation to accommodate students who wish to attend services. During the High Holy Days we have services on campus for those students who are not able to get off campus.

Q: Is there an Israel advocacy program on campus?
A: Wagner College is a pluralistic school. We accept all groups and all types of people, no matter what their beliefs are. We do not formally have an Israel advocacy group, but Wagner Hillel supports many of Israel’s actions.

Q: Are there any anti-Semitic or anti-Zionist organizations on campus?
A: There are no such groups on campus. At Wagner College, the objective is to provide a pluralistic environment for all students to freely express their individuality. The campus is a very open place for students to express who they are.
