Foundation Hall, scheduled to open in January of 2010, is Wagner College’s first new residence hall to open in 43 years. Approximately 200 seniors (and possibly some juniors) and Residential Education staff members will call Foundation Hall home. Students are housed on four floors in suite-style rooms. The suites feature two double bedrooms, a bathroom, and a counter area for preparing food (no formal kitchen). The Seahawk suites feature two double bedrooms, a bathroom, and a furnished common living area that includes a counter area for preparing food (no formal kitchen). In addition to the building's Resident Director, a Resident Assistant lives on each floor.
The first floor will feature a multipurpose room that will be used for events and classes, a small kitchen, as well as a cafe run by Chartwells for the convenience of Foundation Hall residents. The residential floors each offer community spaces and a quiet study lounge. Foundation Hall will be home to the Senior Year Residential Experience. This program, the result of a collaboration between Residential Education, the Dean of Campus Life Office, the Center for Academic and Career Development, and the Office of Alumni Relations, will offer events for seniors to support them as they transition into a career or graduate program.
Rooms in Foundation Hall are offered at the same rate as single and double rooms in the existing residence halls.
Foundation Hall is intended for seniors, but some juniors may reside in this hall as well. Groups of four seniors are given priority to sign up for Foundation Hall. Senior status is determined by the amount of credits a student has after the Fall 2008 semester. The group may use the lowest number out of the four residents when signing up for a suite. All four members of the group must be present (or a Proxy must be present) when selecting a Foundation Hall assignment. If a group has members who are not seniors, the group may still select a Foundation Hall assignment, however the group will be asked to wait until all four-person senior groups have selected a space before they can select a Foundation Hall room. Therefore, students with one or more juniors in the group will not be able to select a space right away, but may select a Foundation Hall assignment if spaces are available after all-senior groups have selected.
There are four single rooms available in Foundation Hall. Students residing in singles in Harborview Hall in the Fall semester will be contacted in November. If at this time these residents wish to be considered for one of the four singles in Foundation, the process for selection will occur in November and these students can participate. Therefore, if you are a student wishing to reside in a single in Foundation Hall for Spring semester, please select a single room in Harborview for the Fall semester to be eligible for consideration come November 2009.
Students who select a room assignment in Foundation Hall will be housed in a temporary location for the Fall 2009 semester. These students will live in the temporary assignment for the fall semester and will move to Foundation Hall for the Spring 2010 semester. After considering the benefits and limitations of many options for offering temporary assignments for the spring semester, the Office of Residential Education placed a priority on maintaining a floor community from one semester to the next, as well as offering Senior Year Residential Experience programming for the entire academic year. Therefore, students will select a fall assignment that corresponds with a spring assignment in Foundation Hall, and the entire floor, including the RA, will move together to Foundation Hall. Groups of four students of the same sex will move together from a Fall 2009 assignment on Guild 2 or Harborview 12, 13 and 14 to a Spring 2010 assignment in Foundation Hall. Below is a chart outlining which Fall 2009 spaces correspond with specific Spring 2010 spaces.
| Fall 2009 Assignment |
A complete list of specific rooms that will correspond with one another will be available to students during nights of selection. Additionally, students will be able to view complete floor plans of Foundation Hall during the selection process.
The second floor of Guild will not require a specific GPA, and the 12th, 13th, and 14th floors of Harborview will not be substance-free for the Fall 2009 semester (unless the residents are under the age of 21). Additionally, floors 12, 13, and 14 in Harborview will still have single sex rooms, but the wings of the floors will not have a designated sex for Fall 2009. These floors will be co-ed with one designated female and one designated male restroom on the floor. These changes were made to lessen restrictions for students interested in living in Foundation Hall for the spring semester.
Additionally, a limited amount of each student’s belongings will be moved by professional movers from the Fall 2009 assignments to the Spring 2010 assignment in Foundation Hall at no cost to the student. Further details will be provided to Foundation Hall residents during the Fall 2009 semester.

2. Hand in all required paperwork to the Office of Residential Education by 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009.
3. Students will be assigned a lottery number on Friday, April 3, 2009. All numbers will be posted on the Residential Education website. See the section entitled How to use your Lottery Number for more information.
4. All students participating in Housing Selection must be present on April 7th to select an assignment. Students must be able to fill all four spots in their intended housing assignments in order to secure a spot in Foundation Hall.
