This year’s selection theme is the The RAmazing Race, a theme that embodies the spirit of the RA position: a challenging and rewarding journey that will push your leadership skills to new levels and form strong bonds with a team of Res Ed staff.
Be a part of The RAmazing Race... Will you make it to the finish line?
The Office of Residential Education has begun our annual Resident Assistant Selection Process. This process will occur in the Spring of 2012 in order to hire students for employment beginning in Fall of 2012. We are looking for students who have demonstrated a commitment to their residential community as well as to Wagner College. We are also looking for a wide variety of students for the position. Having RAs from a wide array of majors, class levels, personalities, and skill sets in the position can contribute to an overall positive and successful experience. The resident assistant position offers a unique opportunity to serve as a leader at Wagner College. If you feel you have something to contribute to the residence hall environment, we urge you to apply.
Applicants are required to have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA (cumulative) and must have sophomore, junior, or senior status when returning to campus for the Fall 2012 semester. A timeline of the process is below, which includes the important dates of when applications are due, as well as the RA Interview Day, in which all applicants are required to participate for consideration.

The selection process is an opportunity for the Residential Education staff to see each candidate in various roles. It includes an extensive application with essay questions, a group process interview in which candidates work together to confront different dilemmas and engage in discussion, and an individual interview conducted by current staff members. During the individual interview you will be asked to give a five minute creative presentation that expresses who you are, what you plan on contributing to the position, and how you plan on growing from the position. Once again, our goal is to hire a diverse group of individuals who can come together to meet the common goal of creating a positive climate in the residence halls.
If you have any questions about the process or the RA position, do not hesitate to contact us. Chris Diggs, the Resident Director of Foundation Hall, coordinates the RA Selection process so you may contact her directly with questions at 718.420.4535 or christina.diggs@wagner.edu.
The Office of Residential Education looks forward to your candidacy. Interested applicants should review the RA Application and Recommendation Forms posted below and should plan to attend an Information Session (see times, dates, and locations on the timeline above).
