Check-out Options for Residents: The Office of Residential Education has created two convenient ways for students to check-out of the residence halls. Students may complete an “Express Check-out” or may choose to have a Resident Assistant complete a “Walkthrough Check-out”. Please see below for more information.
Express Check-out Express Check-out is a great option for students who may need to leave the residence halls during hours that are not included in the RA check-out schedule or if they cannot wait to have an RA complete their room inspection. The “Express Check-out” process is for your convenience! Remember, students will not be able to appeal any room charges once an “Express Check-out” has been completed.
Students may pick up an “Express Check-out” envelope at the front desk of Harborview Hall, Guild Hall, or Parker Towers Hall. The Resident Assistant staff will also have these envelopes available upon request. Students should read and fill out the information printed on the front of the envelope. After reading the entire envelope, students will need to sign the envelope stating that the room is clean and ready to be inspected at a later date by the Residential Education staff. Students will then place their room key into the envelope, seal it and put it in the box on the RD Office door located in the lobby. This will conclude the “Express Check-out Process”.
Walkthrough Check-out The “Walkthrough Checkout” entails a thorough inventory of the room to assess for possible damages. Students participating in this process will need to come down to the RA Office located in the lobby area of each building during established check-out hours only. Students must clean and empty all personal belongings from the room prior to contacting an RA. The RA will inspect the room according to the Room Condition Report that was completed at check-in. When the inventory has been completed, students will sign the Room Condition Report and give the key to the RA. That will conclude the “Walkthrough Checkout” process.
