From the Provost:
Dear Graduate Candidate:
I hope and assume you are feeling the excitement of your final semester at Wagner College. Graduation will be the culmination of years of scholarly work at Wagner. Graduation Day this year is scheduled for Friday, May 16. We assume that you will have completed all requirements for graduation and will be a degree candidate.
By tradition, Graduation involves two major festivities. The first is the Baccalaureate Service, which is scheduled for 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 15 in the Sutter Gymnasium of Spiro Sports Center. Students do not wear caps and gowns for this ceremony; but they should dress in business attire.
The second is the Commencement Ceremony, which is scheduled for 10:00 am on Friday, May 16 on the Sutter Oval in front of Main Hall. Proper academic attire is required for Graduation Day and may be picked up at the Wagner College Bookstore. Attached is some additional information about your academic attire for Commencement.
In the event of inclement weather and the Commencement Committee decides that it is not advisable to hold the Commencement Ceremony outside, the ceremony will be held in the Sutter Gymnasium of the Spiro Sports Center. Unfortunately, due to space restrictions, students will be limited to two (2) tickets for their guests to sit inside the gymnasium and 3 tickets for alternate sites where the ceremony may be viewed on large projection screens.
All candidates for degrees are to participate in the Commencement Ceremony unless excused by the Provost. Requests for permission to graduate in absentia must be received in writing by April 16, giving the reason for the request.
You may pick up your commencement packet containing instructions, announcements, rain plan information, and other items in the bookstore, during normal hours of operation, between Monday, April 14 and Wednesday, May 14.
Let me be among the first to congratulate you on your successes and accomplishments thus far in your academic career at Wagner College. And, let me encourage you to stay focused on your goal toward successful graduation during these last months.
Sincerely,
Devorah A. Lieberman, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
