GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ECSC PRESENTATIONS

The goals of these guidelines are to make the evaluation of presentations equitable, to streamline the process of making awards, and to make the presentations more enjoyable.

• There are three ways to present at an ECSC: A full-length submitted paper, a platform (oral) presentation and a poster presentation.

• A student may submit a full-length paper and present either a platform presentation or a poster presentation.

• An individual student can present either a platform presentation or a poster presentation but not both.

• An individual student can be coauthor on more than one full-length paper, platform presentation or poster presentation but cannot be first author on a platform presentation and a poster presentation simultaneously.

• The first author of a submitted full-length paper must register and attend the conference to be eligible for an award.

• Awards are made to the first author of a submitted paper or to the presenter of a platform or poster presentation.

• A platform or poster presentation may be made by only one student. Although multiple authors are fine, multiple presenters are not allowed.

• The content of a full-length paper, platform presentation or poster presentation must have data. Usually this takes one of two forms: Discovery science in which the investigator is presenting novel, goal-directed findings; or hypothesis-driven science in which data are analyzed to test a hypothesis.
