The Department of Biological Sciences maintains and cultivates numerous animals for teaching and research purposes. Zebrafish (
Danio rerio), fruit flies (
Drosophila melanogaster), and yellow fever mosquitoes (
Aedes aegypti) are cultivated. Numerous other animals, including fish, turtles, crabs, horseshoe crabs, crayfish, sea urchins, starfish, leeches, jellyfish and different protozoans are maintained on a more or less continuous basis. The following photographs give an impression of the animals available for teaching and research.
