PowerPoint Presentation
This page is for any student who is planning to give a platform (oral) presentation that involves PowerPoint slides. The deadline for online submission of abstracts for all presentations is Monday, March 16, 2009. Each abstract (no more than 1400 characters) must be keyed in carefully during online submission without copying and pasting. Please prepare the abstract carefully before clicking the submit button. If you plan to use PowerPoint slides during your presentation, please upload your presentation at the PowerPoint submission site no later than 5:00 pm, Wednesday, April 22, 2009. To go to the online registration site, please click here . To go to the online PowerPoint submission site, please click here .
No late submissions will be accepted. You will be sent a confirmation e-mail to acknowledge receipt of your PowerPoint presentation or to contact you in case there are any complications.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR POWERPOINT SLIDE SUBMISSIONS AND PRESENTATIONS:
Please make sure you save your PowerPoint slides in a format that will be compatible with other machines. Perform a “Save as” and choose compatibility with PowerPoint 2007 for Windows and PowerPoint 2008 for MacIntosh. Make sure you also choose to save as a self-contained file if prompted to do so. Please name the file in the following way: firstnamelastname.ppt where the first and last names of the first author are written together with no spaces in between.
Each session chair will have a copy of every PowerPoint presentation being given in that session, since the PowerPoint slides will have been sent ahead of time. Allow the session chair to cue up your PowerPoint presentation.
TIPS FOR PREPARING POWERPOINT SLIDES FOR THIS CONFERENCE:
Please allow yourself plenty of time to prepare your PowerPoint slides carefully, with a focus on clearly presented content rather than flash and pizzazz. Do not use transitions or any special effects or odd sounds. If you must have sounds or video clips as part of your presentation, please make certain that they are embedded into your presentation in a popular format. Avoid the use of an automated timing mechanism built into your PowerPoint presentation: only manually controlled presentations will be accepted. Do not expect Internet access in your presentation room. Please make certain that your presentation does not exceed the allotted time.
Any questions? Please send them to Dr. Donald Stearns at dstearns@wagner.edu . Please allow plenty of time to make changes once you have received answers to your questions. Avoid waiting until near the April 22nd deadline to begin considering your PowerPoint presentation.
