Receiving Academic Credit for Internship Experience
Attempting to arrange academic credit for an internship experience? You will need to pick up and complete an "Internship Packet" from the Director of Business Internships, secure approvals from the Center for Career Development, the Business Department Chair and the Director of Business Internships prior to registration and be sure to register for internship credit during the registration period for that semester. Students have two options either to sign up for BU397, which is a 1 unit course requiring 105 internship hours, OR, BU497 which is a 2 unit course requiring 210 internship hours. Business internships are applied towards business electives.*

* Since the two are independent programs of each other, students may not apply hours obtained through the Senior Reflective Tutorial (RFT) towards an internships for academic credit, vice versa. An internship for academic credit can be taken concurrently with the Senior RFT, and hours can be done at the same organization, but the hours must be earned seperate from each other. Before using the same company twice, students are expected to check with their RFT professor to verify that they find this acceptable for their course.
