All students enrolled in Teacher Preparation Programs in New York State must pass a series of tests to be fully eligible for teaching certification in New York State. Even if you complete an approved teacher preparation program and receive either a Bachelor's Degree or a Master's Degree at Wagner College, you must still pass these tests if you desire New York State certification. (NOTE: If you are not seeking New York certification, these tests are not required, but are highly recommended.)

If you are seeking New York State Childhood Education Certification (Grades 1-6), both general and education for students with disabilities, you must take and pass the following tests in the order that is recommended below:

1. The LAST (Liberal Arts & Sciences Test)

2. The Multi-Subject CST (Content Specialty Test)

3. The ATS-W (Elementary Assessment of Teaching Skills-Written)

4. The Students with Disabilities CST (Content Speciality Test) - We urge you NOT to take this test until you are near the end of your program.
