Make certain that you decide early on in your program that you want to earn a teacher certification because the curriculum is packed with requirements. If you delay, you might not graduate in the usual four years. To declare your major in education please fill out the Formal Declaration of Major in Education Form . If at any time you have a question of concern, feel free to contact me at extension 4070, or see me in Campus Hall, Room 332.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Take your language requirement early on in your 1st or 2nd year. Know that these 2 language courses will fulfill 2 out of the 3 required Humanities units.
  • Do not take any computer course (CS106 or 107) because CS322 will fulfill your requirement during your Intermediate Learning Community.
  • Take MA110 early on.
  • Take at least one science course with a lab (1 of 2 required sceience courses) early on.

Again, since, for the most part, Education is really a double major, you have little leeway in selecting courses if you hope to graduate in 4 years.
