Highlights of students' overall experience from 2008 Expanding Your Horizons courses:

Bangladesh:

"I recently traveled to Bangladesh. It was one of the best experiences of my life. It has showed me a completely different culture and gave me an opportunity to travel to a place that I would never have visited otherwise. It was a great research opportunity and I met many great people. It is one trip I will never forget."- Yolana Fuks

"On the trip to Bangladesh we saw many impoverished people and it just broke my heart. Traveling to a third world country and witnessing the growing number of people affected by arsenic in their drinking water really made me realize how lucky we are as Americans."- Jamie O'Donnell

"In a select few words, my journey to Bangladesh was a once in a life opportunity that I could not pass by. It truly "expanded my horizon" in such that I am better able to understand some of the issues taking place in this world on a culture level, which allowed me to improved my skills and adapt to certain environments. Also, it allowed me to think more critically of solutions and remedies to these disastrous problems one country may be faced with. Lastly, it was an enjoyable trip where one is able to indulge him or herself in another's culture and see how other people are living their lives. It truly made me more appreciative to the things I have always taken for granted and made me realize what life is all about. I could sit here and tell you forever what life means to me, but my view will never be the same of the next person. EYH: Bangladesh in my opinion is a once in a life time opportunity that everyone interested in change should experience."- Philip Tursi

Greece:

"The 11 days that I spend in Greece were exteremely beneficial regarding my major in Theatre and overall cultural exposure.  I had been to Europe several times previously with Globus Tours, but never had the opportunity to become as immersed in the culture as I had with this specific course.  Not only did our group participate in the obligatory tourist attractions, we were also able to experience first hand Greed life through the eyes of Greek college students.  We learned the appropriate customs and necessary phrases in order to appear as polite and interested American students and to communicate intelligently with our student guides.  The combination of Greek history with modern Greek life gave each of us the opportunity to realize and understand the similarities adn differences in their culture and where their and our morals, ethics, beliefs, and political views originated and how they differ.  This mixture of past and present truly aided in making this particular trip most successful among the Wagner students."- Kathleen Fehrle

Italy:

"The expanding your horizons trip to Arezzo, Italy has changed my life forever. I have met some of the most interesting and genuine people who have changed my outlook on this business and in my personal life as well....  I am honored and truly grateful that I had the opportunity to learn from such amazing teachers. This is an experience in which I will and cannot ever forget. I look forward to another trip to Arezzo real soon and will be sure to recommend this workshop to all." - Pietro Marinaro

"I would first like to start off by saying that training wise I have never learned so much in such a short period of time than my two weeks spent in Italy....I can honestly say I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything." - Joe Donnelly

"My experiences at the Academia were rich with discovery and I only wish I had more time....Because of this, however, I am even more motivated to use what I have learned and actively apply it to everything I do. For me this program aided me not only as an actor but as a person. In more than just theatre I can appreciate the lessons I have learned about acceptance, activeness, and taking time. I cannot say if I will ever study Commedia Dell Arte in the future but I know that the material I gathered in two weeks was unbelievably significant in my progress as an actor." - Jillian Porter
