Dr. Sanders's research focuses on foreign language learning and teaching methodology, particularly among students with varying degrees of previous language exposure, as well as heritage learners of Italian.  She has given conference presentations in the U.S. and Canada on the specific needs of heritage learners in the Italian classroom and has published a preliminary study on the same subject.  At Wagner she is the coordinator of Italian Studies.  Dr. Sanders teaches all levels of Italian language, as well as courses on Italian culture and conversation through cinema, and contemporary Italian women writers.
