| Mathematics majors learn to think with precision and logical rigor and to make both finite and abstract conclusions. Emphasis is placed on a broad range of applications. A minor in computer science or management information systems is an option. Graduates are prepared for graduate study or may choose careers in mathematics-related fields such as engineering, statistics, computing, actuarial science, physics, and education. |

Requirements for a Minor in Mathematics
A minimum of 6 units in mathematics numbered 108 or higher, except for MA 110 are required for a minor in mathematics. A computer science course numbered 130 and higher may be taken as a substitute for a mathematics course to reach those 6 units.
Alternatively, if a major requires both MA 121 and MA 122, students in those majors are required to take four more units in mathematics numbered 200 or higher for a minor in mathematics. Students in these majors are not allowed to substitute computer science courses for mathematics course.
