Biography

Leo Singer, cellist, is 13 years old.  He studies cello at the Third Street Music School School Settlement and his teacher is Syblle Johner.  He has performed in Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, CAMI Hall, Steinway Hall, Wagner College, The National Arts Club, Christ & St. Stephens Church, St. Mark's Church, The Pierre Hotel, The Knitting Factory and Disneyworld (as the lone cellist with the Long Island music Institute Chamber Players).  His awards and competitions include First Prize in the Regina Rubinoff Music Competition sponsored by the Associated Music Teachers League in 2002, First Prize in the Con Spirito concerto Composition sponsored by the Third Street Music School Settlement in 2004, First Prize in the Wagner College Young Musicians Competition in 1005, and First Prize in the Philharmonia Concerto Competition sponsored by the Third Street Music School in 2006.  Leo also has performed in Master Classes conducted by Colin Carr, Alan Stepansky and Stefan Kartman.  Leo has been a participant in the Chamber Music Program at the Third Stree Music School for the past 5 years and he is currently a member of the Philharmonia orchestra at The Third Street Music School Settlement andthe Friends Seminary Orchestra.  He has attended Kinhaven Music Camp for the past 2 summers and plans to attend in 2006.

Leo is an eighth grade student at Friends Seminary and plays on the middle school baseball and basketball teams.  Leo also enjoys playing the electric guitar and performs as a member of the rock band, Radio Silent.  Leo plays a cello made by Ed Maday.
