Dr. Dalland took his PhD in psychology from Columbia University in 1958 with the dissertation entitled "Spectral thresholds in the starling (Sturnus Vulgaris)."  He conducted research in behavioral, perceptual, and physiological psychology in bats (auditory) and birds (visual).
