Information For Prospective and Transfer Students

Audition Guidelines for Wagner College Theatre 

Prospective Freshmen of Fall 2012

Please work with the Admissions Office to coordinate your visit and audition. Students will be invited to interview and/or audition only after their Wagner College applications have been received. Potential students should address all preliminary inquiries to the Wagner College Admissions Office at 718-390-3411.

Theatre Performance 
 

WHEN: This year’s audition day will be held in February, 2012. Auditions for Transfer students will be held on Friday, February 24th and for Freshmen on Sunday, February 26th.

WHERE: Wagner College campus.

PLEASE PREPARE
• Two monologues of approximately one minute in length. Show your best work, regardless of genre or period. You may be asked for only one, so plan on performing the piece that displays your best work.

• Two Broadway musical selections of 16 bars in length, one from an up-tempo song and the other from a ballad. You may be asked for only one, so plan on performing the piece that displays your best work.

• Each applicant will be required to attend a Dance/Movement evaluation designed to evaluate potential. Nothing need be prepared, but appropriate dance attire is required.

If unable to attend Audition Day please submit, to the Admissions Office, a DVD, VHS videotape or YouTube including:

  • one 16 bar musical selection

  • one monologue of approximately one minute in length

  • a few words on why you are interested in pursuing your education at Wagner College

  • a demonstration of your movement or dance abilities

Please include with the video recording a letter that contains a contact phone number and e-mail address. Full video submission guidelines are also available at the Wagner College Theatre website or by contacting Mara Gannon.

 

Design Technology, Management & Theatre Studies

WHEN: This year’s audition day will be held on Sunday February 26, 2012.

WHERE: Wagner College campus.

Please bring a resume with you to your scheduled interview. The resume should list any shows you have worked on, special skills, and relevant classes you have taken such as art, theatre, music, industrial arts, history, literature, drafting, and so on.

If you have a portfolio, bring it along. A portfolio might include: examples of your skills in drawing, sketching, and painting; any theatre design work; prompt books or examples of other stage management work; photographs of productions; items that you feel might be helpful in getting to know you. The portfolio is to help jump-start the interview, please bring whatever you have..
