Lasers, Magnets, Magic & Other Cool Stuff – New for 2008!

This camp includes several Mad Science programs that are kid favorites.  Students will learn about lasers, light, color, magnets.  They will explore the science behind magic, gravity, force, inertia, engineering, waves, water, lightening, and how toys use science to work.

Ages: 7 – 12

Session I: July 7 – July 11

Half-day:  $190

Full-day:  $299

Crazy Chemworks! – New for 2008

Who thought science could be so much fun?  Learn about what holds atoms and molecules together, chemical reactions, heat, chemical counting, and code deciphering.  You will perform experiments to test scientific properties and learn to talk “science”.  Students learn about the basic tools used in the laboratory, physical and chemical reactions, pH balance, polymers, how things glow-in-the-dark, glue, and dry ice.

Ages: 7 – 12

July 14 – July 18

Half-day:  $190

Full-day:  $299

Rockin’ Rockets and UFO’sUpdated for 2008

Campers will turn Wagner College into a launch zone as we learn about aerodynamics and flight.  There are sure to be some crash landings as we build different “flying objects” and test their air worthiness.  The topics that will be explored during the week include flight, space, Newton’s law, and rockets.

Ages: 7 – 12

July 21 – July 25

Red Hot RobotsUpdated for 2008

What could be more fun than building and playing with super cool red hot robots!  Discover the science of circuits and how robots use gears as they explore things around them.  We’ll learn about sensors, processors, and actuators.  Think you can trick our amazing line tracking robot, “r3d3”?  Create a maze and find out how he works.  Then build your very own “r3d3” to take home with you!  Challenge other campers to a friendly game of soccer using our soccer robots and score a GOAL.  We’ll learn how to program a robot so that it goes where you tell it to go.  Dr. Claw will help us see how electric circuits, switches and gears all help robots do some very cool things.  We’ll discover the world of robots as we investigate the differences between humans and their robotic counterparts.

What makes a robot work will be explored during hands-on activities and discussions.  Each day time will be spent perfecting a real working robot that will be completed by each camper and taken home on Friday.  Best of all and premiering this summer, you will get to take home your very own “Jungle Robot.”

Group 1: Ages 6 – 7

Group 2: Ages 8 – 12

*Different age groups will work on different projects and take-home activities.
