“What do I want to be when I grow up?”  Teens will have the unique opportunity to experience real life, real time careers by visiting local businesses, law firms, medical facilities, government offices, catering halls, design studios, and retail establishments.  There they will get expert advice from lawyers, judges, doctors, event planners, stylists and designers as to what they do and what education and real life experiences led them to their current positions.  Included in each visit is a hands-on activity for experiential learning, advice on schooling, volunteering, internships and salary levels.  All teen career weeks will culminate with a workshop session focused on career planning, motivational coaching, social and business etiquette, and interviewing skills.

“Careers in Law and Justice”                                                                  July 14 – July 18

Justice is served.  Well just how is justice served?  Teens will have the unique opportunity to spend one week exploring options available by meeting real life professionals at on-site visits.  Learn how the local police precinct operates.  Visit a New York court, and see how each professional plays an important role in the legal process.  Witness how the District Attorney’s Office operates and defends the people.  Learn how government works spending time with your local elected representatives.  Discover the intricacies of homeland security and the demanding responsibilities of the FBI, and U.S. Secret Service.  You will discover the endless array of career opportunities in law by spending this action-packed week with us.

 
“Careers in Medicine and Health”                                                          July 21 – July 25

Interested in a career in the medical field?  Teens will have the unique opportunity to spend one week exploring options available by meeting real life professionals at on-site visits.  Explore career opportunities within a hospital by touring Staten Island University Hospital.  Who knows, you may even witness actual open heart surgery from the gallery!  Visit with medical professionals that may include an orthodontist, a dentist, a physical therapist, a pulmonologist, an optometrist, and a chiropractor at their Staten Island offices.  Learn what it takes to be a veterinarian at the Staten Island Zoo.  Opportunities abound to learn about a multitude of medical professions that could also include pharmacology, optometry, prosthetics, and medical research.

 
Careers in Event Planning”New for 2008!                                         July 28 – August 1
