Your work for the College may give you access to academic, personnel, or budgetary information that is considered confidential.  You are expected to respect the confidentiality of such information and not disclose it to anyone who does not have an official need for it.  If you have any question about the confidentiality of information entrusted to you or to which you have access, ask your supervisor.

The federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act prohibits, with certain limited exceptions, the release of information from a student’s educational records unless the student has given written consent.  Questions about compliance can be answered by the Registrar’s Office.

Personnel records of employees may be accessed by employees and supervisors only in the course of performing their job functions on a need-to-know basis, except pursuant to a subpoena or a request covered under the open record law of New York State.
