Anti-Virus, Software and Spyware Updates
Software manufacturers, both Windows and Mac, release patches for their software on a regular basis. The easiest way to remain current is to allow your software to be automatically updated. We have directions available to help you configure your computer.

You must have an up-to-date anti-virus program on your computer. Information on these programs, removing viruses and cleaning your computer of spyware is available.

System Log-Ins and Passwords

Passwords must be kept private - please do not share your passwords with anyone. Please change your password after your accounts have been established, so you are not using a default password provided by the College. We encourage you to change your passwords whenever you feel they may have been compromised. Below are the major systems on campus that require a password and directions on how to change your password for each.

Novell Network                 Mailport                  WWAM                   Moodle and Wireless Network

Network Space

Everyone has a P-drive (personal drive) where you can save files to the network. All network folders are regularly backed-up, so you can be confident that any work saved to the network is safe. You can access your network folders from any campus computer or from your personal computer in the residence halls or from home, on either a PC or a Mac.

Game Consoles

To access the network via a game console, email the physical/mac address of the console (PS3; Xbox 360).

Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack

Presently, the standard at Wagner College is Office 2007. If you still have Office 2003, you will need to have downloaded a compatibility pack from Microsoft to open Office 2007 files. A similar compatibility pack is available for Mac users.

Printing Policy

All students receive an account that allows them to print using printers in the Library and the Spiro Computer Lab. First-, second- and third-year students receive a $40 credit, while seniors receive a $50 credit in recognition of the additional research they are conducting for their senior thesis within their senior learning community. Once your credit has been used, you may add money to your account through the Bursar's Office. You may also run a negative balance for a short period of time, so you will always be able to complete a printing job.

Printing is charged at $0.10/page for black and white; $0.25/page for color.

Software tutorials

Wagner College licenses a series of online tutorials for over 300 software titles and these tutorials are all free for your use.
