Scoring Exams with the Scantron
YOU MUST USE A NO. 2 PENCIL
A. Scoring Scantron Exams: 50 Questions or Less:
1. Turn on main power switch at rear of the scantron.
2. Fill in total number of questions in KEY ITEM COUNT on Answer Sheet (only on Answer Sheet, not on exams.) |
3. Press the "HOLD TO LOAD KEY" button on the front panel of the scantron while feeding the answer key. This will load the answers into the scantron. |
4. Scan exams one by one to grade. Do not press "HOLD TO LOAD KEY."
If an ITEM ANALYSIS is desired, simply scan an item analysis sheet after the last test has been scanned. It will tabulate how many students got each question wrong.
B. Scoring Scantron Exams: 51 to 100 Questions
1. Fill in KEY ITEM COUNT on answer sheet. |
2. On the top left corner, fill in TOTAL ONLY/BOTH SIDES. |
3. Press "HOLD TO LOAD KEY" button while feeding the answer key with side one facing up. It will score both sides. This will load the answers into the scantron. |
4. Scan exams one by one to grade. Do not press the button labeled "HOLD TO LOAD KEY." This process will only show the final grade on each exam. If you want the correct answers to be printed next to incorrectly answered questions, you'll need an ITEM ANALYSIS.
| If an ITEM ANALYSIS is desired, follow instructions below: |
1. Erase TOTAL ONLY/BOTH SIDES. Fill in RESCORE and change the KEY ITEM COUNT to 50. Feed it through with side one facing up, then feed all exams with side one facing up. This will rescore side one only and print the correct answers next to incorrectly answered questions. Once the last test is scanned, feed an ITEM ANALYSIS sheet through with side one facing up. |
2. Fill in RESCORE on side two and fill in KEY ITEM COUNT. (In this case, the number of questions would equal 25.) Feed it through with side two facing up, then feed all exams with side two facing up. This will rescore side two only and print the correct answers next to incorrectly answered questions. Once the last test is scanned, feed the ITEM ANALYSIS sheet through with side two facing up. |
