Phones in the Residence Halls

Every room in the residence halls has one telephone number and one voicemail box that is shared by all roommates. Dialing off-campus requires setting up an account with our service provider, PaeTec (800-962-4772) and using a pin number provided by them. Every residential student receives free local calls (718 area code) and 1000 free long-distance minutes per year and is billed directly by PaeTec for any time over that. Call PaeTec for information on your account or if you have lost your pin number.

Voicemail

Every campus phone number has an associated voice mailbox. We have a voicemail help sheet available for printing that provides some of the common functions. If you would like help in creating a greeting, please check our page of standard greetings for ideas.

Faculty and staff receive email notifications of messages left on their voice mailbox. This notification includes the name and extension if the message is from a person who is on-campus or the phone number if the message is from an off-campus number. This notification is helpful if you are checking your email from off-campus because it alerts you to the fact that you have a voicemail. Some people do not find this email notification helpful, however, so if you would like it removed from your phone number, we are happy to do that. Just notify the Help Desk at 718-390-3410.
