Parents Association Co-Chairs Frank & Dianne Powers
Host Barbeque for Incoming Freshman and Their Parents in Southern New Jersey

On Thursday, August 3, Dianne and Frank Powers, Co-Chairs of the Parent Association opened up their summer home in Mantoloking, New Jersey for a barbeque to welcome new students their parents to the Wagner College community.  New students and their families from the area were invited to this first time parent association event as a way of establishing bonds with classmates, other parents, and Wagner administrators.  On the program for the evening was Wagner’s President, Dr. Richard Guarasci and his wife Carin, and provost and vice president for academic affairs, Dr. Devorah Lieberman.  Students and parents also had the opportunity to chat with the dean of the college, Dr. Anne Love, Dr. Thomas Carroll, vice president for finance, Angelo Araimo, vice president for enrollment and planning, Leigh-Ann DePascale ’97, director of admissions and associate directors of admissions Christine Bell and Jacqueline Sarkies ’05, and Clare Rich, director of development.

In spite of the heat wave 100 degree index, more than seventy-five guests mingled with true   Wagnerian spirit as they shared thoughts and expectations about the college experience, getting to know one another, and eating delicious food cooked by the Powers’ two sons Doug ’00 and Brian ’07.  All who attended the event were pleased with the effort and overall generosity of Frank and Dianne Powers in making them feel welcomed to the Wagner family.

Brian Powers ’07 gathered new students to rally in a contest for several Wagner College t-shirts and hats…it goes to show you that it’s never to early to show off your Wagner Seahawk spirit!
