ILL FAQ

  1. What is ILL?

ILL acquires books and copies of journal articles that are not available in Horrmann Library's print, microform or electronic collection. We provide this service, free of charge, to current Wagner College students, faculty, staff, and other community users with borrowing privileges.

  1. How do I use ILL?
  • Obtain a book or journal article citation.
  • Check if the book or journal article is available through Horrmann Library
  • Search WagCat [link to WagCat] for books
  • Search the journal list [link to journal list] for journal articles in print and electronic format
  • If the journal or book is not in WagCat or the journal list, complete the ILL book request form [link to book request form] or article request form [link to article request form].
  • The ILL department will notify you by email when your request is ready. Depending on the request type, materials are available for pickup at the Horrmann Library Circulation Desk or are delivered to you via email.
  1. How long does it take to receive the materials I requested?

This depends on the availability of the item you need. Most requests are delivered to us and available to you within 5 to 10 business days.

  1. How long can I have an ILL book out?

The loan period for ILL books varies and depends on the lending library’s policies and procedures. In general, the loan period for ILL books is three to six weeks.

  1. Can I renew an ILL book?

Renewal of ILL books depends on the lending library or institution. If you would like to attempt a renewal of an ILL book please send an email to interloa@wagner.edu with your name and the title of the book. The ILL department will then submit a renewal request to the lending library and notified you when they respond.

  1. Are there overdue fines on ILL books?

Yes. The library charges students a dollar a day for overdue ILL books.
