Judge Barbara Panepinto
Barbara Panepinto, a matrimonial judge and a Brooklyn native, came to Staten Island in 1974 during the City-State Financial Crisis to look for work in the family court system. She attended St.Joseph’s College and received her B.A in Psychology, a Master’s in counseling and is a registered nurse. She worked as a Probation officer, and worked for the City Civil Lawyers as a corporation counselor. During this position ran for judge for the Democratic Party of Staten Island. She was elected as the first female judge in the history of Staten Island. In her community she is active in the Italian Heritage Association, the NAACP, and numerous female and cultural orgaizations. Judge Panepinto believes that a leader should be able to command the loyalty and respect of her employees. She believes a leader should be active in the community and mentoring aspiring young females. Ultimately, Judge Panepinto a leader must execute her job honestly, stay active in the community, and counsel young women who want to be professionals.
