Interview with Leticia Remauro April, 2006
The Honorable Leticia Remauro (b. March 23, 1963), immediate past chair of the Republican County Committee of Richmond New York is the current Vice President for Community Relation of the Battery Park City Authority. Her father, a government printer by trade, left Italy for the United States; and her mother was an American and a homemaker by profession. The first part of the interview discusses her move from Brooklyn to Florida, and her mother and father, who were loving parents, and ironically liberal politically contrasted against her conservative ideals. Upon her marriage, she discusses her move to Staten Island in order to escape the racist environment which her Florida was home to at the time. After she discusses her move, she describes her work in the PTA, the Dinkins Administration, and problems she faced as a small business owner. She next discusses her political involvement, her work in the administrations of Mayor Rudolph Guiliani and Governor George Pataki, her 1994 New York State Assembly campaign, and her work at the Battery Park City Authority. Finally, she discusses her work as the Republican County Chair of Richmond County, New York, and her involvement on the Bush 2000 campaign. Lastly, she offers guidance to those who are interested in a career in politics.
