Moving In

Housing Assignments

Housing assignments for first year students are completed by mid-July and will be sent to students shortly thereafter. Housing assignments are contingent on receiving your completed housing application by the deadline. Housing assignments cannot be made without this form. Only those students who have turned in all forms will be assigned a room. A completed housing application consists of a returned Residence Hall Living Contract, health insurance information, and a New Student Housing Questionnaire. Although it is impossible to guarantee the “ideal” roommate, every effort is made to match compatible roommates.

If you wish to live with a specific person, please note that on the housing application. In order to honor that request, the person you are requesting as a roommate must also request to room with you.

Residence Hall Openings & Closings

The academic year begins for first year students on Friday, August 24,2007 with first year move-in and New Student Orientation. Moving in to a new environment can be a stressful time in a student’s life. We try to relieve some of that stress by offering an early move-in day on Thursday, August 23rd for those traveling long distances, or for those who need an extra day to make the transition. For those moving in on Friday, a designated move-in time is assigned to alleviate overcrowding.

While the residence halls are in use year round, there are certain times throughout the academic year that the halls close down except for those special circumstances that allow us to grant permission to remain in housing (i.e. Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer). Here are a few important dates on which residence halls are opened/ closed for the 2007-2008 academic year:
