Residential Education Staff
Each residence hall is staffed with a Resident Director, one or more Assistant Resident Directors, and Resident Assistants, who are undergraduate students. These staff members live in the residence halls and offer social and educational programs that further the development of community in the hall.
Director of Residential Education
The Director of Residential Education supervises the professional staff in the three residence halls and off- campus apartments and provides overall direction and a vision for the office. The Director also works with other departments at Wagner and with residential students on a daily basis to ensure a positive college experience.
Assistant Director of Residential Education
The Assistant Director of Residential Education is the chief judicial officer in the Office of Residential Education and works with students on disciplinary matters. This individual coordinates the day-to-day building operations and works with students on housing placement.
Resident Directors
Each resident hall is managed by a Resident Director (RD) who lives in that building. The Resident Director supervises the Assistant Resident Directors, the Resident Assistants, and the Desk Attendants who work in the building. The RD is responsible for the daily operations of his/her facility and is a resource for students with questions. The RD lives in the building, in part, to be a visible resource for students, support students in their development and provide advice and counsel when needed.
Assistant Resident Directors
Assistant Resident Directors are Wagner graduate students enrolled in one of the masters degree programs. They assist with the day-to-day operations of the building, with the supervision of the Resident Assistants, and the Desk Attendants. Most importantly, they are responsible for ensuring a positive experience for residential students.
Resident Assistants
Thirty-eight Resident Assistants (RAs) are on staff at Wagner College, averaging one RA for every forty students. The RA is responsible for the immediate oversight of his/her floor. In this role, the RA plans programs, develops a floor community, and helps residents with personal and academic concerns. One or more RAs are on-duty in each building at all times to provide assistance to students as needed.
Senior Desk Attendants
The Senior Desk Attendants are professional staff members who attend to the main desks in the residence halls from 12 midnight until 7 a.m. each day. They work closely with the rest of the staff to ensure a safe living environment for students.
