February 16, 2006, Staten Island, NY…Wagner College will recognize V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls, with performances of "The Vagina Monologues."
Celebrated as the bible for a new generation of women, The Vagina Monologues Eve Ensler's Obie Award-winning masterpiece has been performed in cities all across America and at hundreds of college campuses. It gives voice to women's deepest fantasies and fears, guarantees that no one who reads it will ever look at a woman's body, or think of sex, in quite the same way again and has inspired a dynamic grassroots movement--V-Day--to stop violence against women.
Performance Dates:
Thursday 2/23 – Open Dress Rehearsal, Friday 2/24 – Opening Night, Saturday 2/25
Sunday 2/26 - Closing Night - Spiro Hall 2, 8PM, with pre-show entertainment at 7:45PM.
The V-Day College Campaign - invites members of college and university communities around the world to present V-Day benefit productions of “The Vagina Monologues” on their campuses around V-Day (February 14th) to raise money and awareness and to stop violence against women and girls.
There are 1115 colleges and communities planning to stage V-Day 2006 benefit events in over 54 countries. Wagner College is proud to be among them. This is the fourth year Wagner College has presented performances of "The Vagina Monologues." Last year, V-Day Wagner College raised $1700 to benefit both local and international organizations that are working to stop violence against women. Please help us reach this year’s goal of $3500 by joining us for any of our V-Day Wagner College events.
