Top 25 Northern University School again!2006 U.S. News and World Report Rankings Released August 19, 2005, Staten Island, NY….For the second year in a row, Wagner College ranked among the top 25 schools of the 2006 U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges - Northern Universities” category and was cited twice in its "Programs To Look For" section. Wagner College’s 118th Commencement May 20, 2005….The rain today could not dampen the collective spirit and enthusiasm of the nearly 4,000 graduates, family members and friends attending Wagner’s 118th Commencement for the graduating class of 2005. The joy and glow of the 602 graduates at and their loved ones, forced to move inside Spiro Gym because of the inclement weather, outshone any of the inconveniences some may have had to face. Wagner wins 2005 TIAA-CREF Hesburgh Award<!-- main text body/content --> <!-- begin content --> Washington, D.C., February 14, 2005 - Wagner College of Staten Island, New York has been chosen as the recipient of the 2005 TIAA-CREF Theodore M. The Princeton Review's Best 357 Colleges ranks Wagner "Number 1" <!-- main text body/content --><!-- begin content --> The Princeton Review's Best 357 Colleges ranks Wagner "No. 1 Most Beautiful Campus" and "No. 1 Theatre Program" Wagner has been ranked first in two categories in The Princeton Review's Best 357 Colleges, published this week. The publication, which ranks colleges selected for the edition through student surveys, listed Wagner first in both "Most Beautiful Campus" and "Best Theatre." Wagner's campus, high above the Atlantic Ocean, overlooking the Manhattan skyline from Grymes Hill on Staten Island, has been recognized in The Princeton Review's Best Colleges edition in prior years. Wagner wins Lynne Robbins Steinman AwardDominick Fontano, director of campus operations and Tom Carrol, vice president for administration and finance accepted the Lynne Robbins Steinman Foundation's 2004 Beautiful Staten Island Award on behalf of Wagner College at a ceremony on October 28. The award recognizes and promotes efforts on Staten Island to beautify the borough through plantings. The awards were given out at Snug Harbor Cultural Center's Veterans Memorial Hall by Aletta Kipp Diamond, president of the Foundation and trustee of Wagner College. The awards are co-sponsored by the Foundation and the Staten Island Advance. Mrs. Alice Diamond, the wife of the late Staten Island Advance publisher Richard E. Diamond began the Lynne Robbins Steinman Foundation in 1982 in memory of the community activist. The Foundation donates thousands of plants and bulbs annually and funds educational programs, fairs and initiatives for beautification projects around the Island. Wagner College wins 2004 design awardsThe Office of Communications is pleased to announce that Wagner College has won, in conjunction with Stamats Communciations (Cedar Rapids, IA) two 2004 design awards. The Wagner College undergraduate viewbook received the Silver ADDY. The ADDY® Awards Competition of The Advertising Federation is the first of a three-tiered national competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). The ADDY Awards competition, considered the world’s largest advertising competition, honors creative excellence and cultivates the highest creative standards in the industry. Wagner College and Stamats Communciations also won for our 2004 advertisement which ran in the New York Times. SENCER cites Wagner as modelSENCER, Science Education for New Civic Engagements and Responsibilities announced their featured models for 2004, and included Wagner's "Sustainability and Human Health: A Learning Community." The learning community is taught by Donald Stearns, in the biology department and Kim Worthy, in English. SENCER is a program run by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) and is funded by the National Science Foundation. The program connects science and civic engagement by "teaching 'through' complex, capacious and unsolved public issues, such as natural catastrophes, water quality, HIV disease, the Human Genome Project, energy alternatives, and nuclear disarmament. |
