Freedland to head up new Center for Leadership & Service

Wagner College has named Cass Freedland as director of its new Center for Leadership and Service.

The center was created to support the college’s civic engagement activities, which are central to both its curriculum and its role in the surrounding community.


New tuition prepayment plan locks in rates for future use

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Wagner College, with approximately 2,200 students and a curriculum that unites the liberal arts with learning by doing, has become the 262nd institution to join the Independent 529 Plan, which allows parents to lock in tuition rates at less than present levels for their children’s future use.

The Independent 529 Plan was launched in 2003 in a cooperative effort by a national group of private colleges and universities to help families manage the rising cost of higher education. Under the program, individuals can purchase tuition certificates for future redemption at any of the participating private colleges and universities, now including Wagner College.


Conference July 19 on business in China, Russia and India

A conference on "Doing Business in China, Russia and India" will be sponsored by Wagner College's Center for International Business Strategic Studies.

The conference will be held on Thursday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the NYU Midtown Center, 11 West 42nd Street, Suite 408, in Manhattan. Attached is the PDF version of a flier for the conference.

The guest speakers for this conference will be Long Li of the Chinese consulate's Commercial Office, Russian trade representative Alexander Bulatov, and Indian Consulate General Neelam Deo.

The moderator is August Morar, an assistant professor of international

Amy Polumbo, Miss NJ             HOWELL — Acting and performing are second nature to Amy Polumbo of Howell, but remembering to be herself was the tougher challenge for the 22-year-old crowned the state's newest Miss New Jersey on Saturday.

Senior shortstop is school’s all-time leader in hits

            STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (June 8, 2007) — Senior shortstop Joseph DiGeronimo (Hawthorne, N.J. / Hawthorne) has arguably been the face of Wagner baseball since his arrival on Grymes Hill four years ago, but now he has a new challenge: professional baseball. DiGeronimo was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 42nd round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft earlier tonight.


Lee Manchester wins special award for regional history book

'Plains of Abraham' cover

Lee Manchester’s book, “The Plains of Abraham: A History of North Elba and Lake Placid,” published last August, won the first Special Appreciation Award ever given at the Adirondack Literary Awards program. The annual awards program was held on Sunday, June 8, in Blue Mountain Lake, N.Y.

Wagner Young Musicians Competition names grand-prize winners

            On Saturday evening, May 19, the Finals for the Wagner College Young Musicians Competition 2007 took place.

            The Grand Prize Winner in Level I (Pre-high school) was Luis Diaz, who plays flute.

            The Grand Prize Winner in Level II (High school) was Laura Kegeles, who plays cello.
