During Reunion Weekend (June 6-8, 2008), more festivities are planned to celebrate Wagner's rich heritage. For the first time in recent history, we will celebrate Founders Day on October 15, 2008. This should be a meaningful celebration for all. Founders Day will feature a major 125th anniversary convocation; interesting historical speakers, special guests and much more!
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — On Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 9 p.m., Wagner College will offer its 3rd annual Tribute to Black Music in the Campus Hall Performance Center. The public is invited; the performance is free.
The program will pay homage to the spiritual and gospel tradition, and will celebrate the lives of many important figures from the world of jazz: Oscar Peterson (1925-2008), Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington (1899-1974), Billy Strayhorn (1915-1967), Thelonius Monk (1917-1982), Milton Nascimento (b. 1942), Charlie Parker (1920-1955), John Coltrane (1926-1967), Clifford Brown (1930-1956), Bennie Golson (b. 1929) and Jon Hendricks (b. 1921) — and all in just 90 minutes!
The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission Inc. and the New York State Education Department will be conducting a site review for continuing accreditation of the Evelyn L. Spiro School of Nursing at Wagner College on Feb. 26-28. You are invited to meet the visit team and share your comments about the program in person at a meeting in the Nursing Resource Center, Campus Hall, on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 4:45 p.m.
Lauren O'Hare, chairwoman of Wagner College's Evelyn L. Spiro School of Nursing, was featured in the February 2008 issue of Advance for Nurses, a professional magazine serving the Greater New York metropolitan area. Public relations executive and attorney Joshua Spivak has recently been named a research fellow with Wagner College’s Hugh L. Carey Center for Government Reform.
