Wagner College celebrates its 125th year in 2008, kicking off a series of events to commemorate the anniversary that began with the March 1, Winter on the Hill celebration.
During Reunion Weekend (June 6-8, 2008), more festivities are planned to celebrate Wagner's rich heritage. For the first time in recent history, we will celebrate Founders Day on October 15, 2008. This should be a meaningful celebration for all. Founders Day will feature a major 125th anniversary convocation; interesting historical speakers, special guests and much more! February 26thWagner offers 3rd annual Tribute to Black Music, Feb. 26 STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — On Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 9 p.m., Wagner College will offer its 3rd annual Tribute to Black Music in the Campus Hall Performance Center. The public is invited; the performance is free. The program will pay homage to the spiritual and gospel tradition, and will celebrate the lives of many important figures from the world of jazz: Oscar Peterson (1925-2008), Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington (1899-1974), Billy Strayhorn (1915-1967), Thelonius Monk (1917-1982), Milton Nascimento (b. 1942), Charlie Parker (1920-1955), John Coltrane (1926-1967), Clifford Brown (1930-1956), Bennie Golson (b. 1929) and Jon Hendricks (b. 1921) — and all in just 90 minutes! Nursing School accreditation team to visit Feb. 26-28The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission Inc. and the New York State Education Department will be conducting a site review for continuing accreditation of the Evelyn L. Spiro School of Nursing at Wagner College on Feb. 26-28.
