Wagner has 2 of 'Time Out New York's '30 Must-Do's this Fall'

Wagner College's theater program was recently listed -- twice! -- in a listing entitled "30 Must-Do's this Fall", published online in Time Out New York. The listings:

8) Wagner College — "Tick, Tick… BOOM!" This musical hinges on composer Jonathan, who dreads turning 30. It was written by late composer Jonathan Larson ("Rent"), right before he turned 30. (Nov 5–15, 718-390-3259)

125th Anniversary brings full slate of activities

This fall, Wagner College is marking the 125th anniversary of its founding in 1883. The campus community, alumni, and friends of the college are invited to participate in all of the anniversary activities we have scheduled. For all the details, CLICK HERE.

August 26th

Sculpture exhibition runs through Sept. 25

An exhibition of figure sculpture will open in the Wagner Gallery of the Union Building on Thursday, Aug. 28. Exhibitors are students in a sculpting class that has been meeting each Saturday morning in the Main Hall ceramics studio for the past 5 years under the auspices of Wagner College's External Programs Department.


New Teacher Academy given $10K for scholarships

            STATEN ISLAND, Aug. 25, 2008 — The UAU Capital Foundation, an arm of United Activities Unlimited, announced today in a press conference at Wagner College that it has given a grant of $10,000 to provide scholarships for the New Teacher Academy, a partnership of Wagner College and Columbia University’s Teachers College. Twenty new teachers will be eligible to receive $500 each, covering half of the $1,000 tuition for the Academy, which starts next month.


Alumnus named PR director for Metropolitan Opera

Charlie Siedenburg ’95, an Arts Administration graduate, has been named as the new director of public relations for New York’s Metropolitan Opera.

“In the arts administration world, it’s like starring on Broadway,” said Professor Gary Sullivan.

Siedenburg moves to the Met from the Milburn, New Jersey's renowned Papermill Playhouse.


Class of 500 Participates in Orientation Weekend

 

Some 500 students participated in New Student Orientation beginning August 21. They moved into their residences, met with faculty, learned about the campus, its' traditions and various involvement opportunities, and had many opportunities to socialize from Bingo on the Oval to Casino Night.

Wagner nominees feature prominently in annual Advance readers poll

 

If you haven't picked up the Staten Island Advance in a while, now may be the time to do so. Every Thursday until Sept. 12, the Advance Weekly Entertainment section will be running this year's AWE Readers' Poll — and Wagner College is very heavily represented among the nominees:

Wagner Welcomes New Students to Campus

It's move in day on the Wagner College campus as approximately 500 new students are expected to arrive sometime during the day on Thursday, August 21. A full slate of activities is planned. See the new student web pages for more information.

Wagner athletics unveils new logo, Web site

The Wagner College Athletic Department is proud to roll out a fresh, new look with the introduction of a set of newly designed logos as well as a revamped athletics Web site.
