Wagner College’s Department of Modern Languages will host the fourth annual Tournées Festival of New French Film on Campus. From Nov. 2 through Nov. 6, five new French films will be screened in Spiro Hall, Room 2. The public is invited, and the screenings are free. Each film will be followed by a discussion led by a senior French major.

On Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. in Wagner College’s Stage One studio theater, Broadway legend Elaine Stritch will give a master-class presentation entitled, “A Life in the Theatre.” The campus community is invited to attend.

A new installation, “A Moment of Knowing: A Collaboration with Writers and Poets,” by Ann Marie McDonnell, will be on display in the Wagner College Gallery through Oct. 31. The public is invited to attend.
Nicole Valinhas, a business administration major at Wagner College with a dual concentration in accounting and finance, took part last summer in accounting firm KPMG’s unique internship program in New York City. In addition to learning the ropes at a top global organization, Valinhas was one of 180 New York interns involved in the firm’s “Interns for Literacy” program.
Congratulations to Mike Gutkin, whose paper was named best presentation (category: undergraduate, 4-year school) at the 42nd conference of the Metropolitan Association of College and University Biologists, which was held on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, N.Y.

STATEN ISLAND — Last summer, Wagner College chemistry major Kathryn M. Chepiga ’10 took part in a summer internship program, funded by Donald and Evelyn Spiro, at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. As an intern, she assisted Dr. Paul Watkins in his ongoing research on lipid metabolism.
