STATEMENT ON THE CRISIS IN HAITI

Wagner College will host its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Agent of Change awards program on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. in Spiro Hall, Room 2. The keynote speaker for the program will be actor, model and activist Yaya DaCosta. Honorees will be Patrick Abdul of Brooklyn, a senior majoring in computer science, and Dr. Cassia Freedland, director of Wagner College’s Center for Leadership and Service.
Wagner College art professor Griselda Healey’s work will be included in a new show at the Staten Island Museum entitled “Growing a Collection: Recent Art Acquisitions,” on display from Jan. 28 through May 30.
An opening reception will be held on Thursday, Jan. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. The reception is free, and the public is invited.
Wagner College will host a Project Pericles workshop on “Debating for Democracy” — D4D — on Friday, Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Faculty Dining Room. The workshop will train students to think about how they can turn an idea or inspiration of their own into a community project.

WAGNER OPENS STATE-OF-THE-ART DORM

This Sunday, Jan. 31 at 3 p.m., historians Lori Weintrob and Phillip Papas will be leading a seminar on their new book, “Port Richmond,” a photohistory of an important community on Staten Island’s North Shore. The seminar will be held in Spiro Hall, Room 2. The public is invited; the event is free.
