A celebration of Tom Carroll, Sept. 30

    The Wagner College community will celebrate the life of Tom Carroll on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 12 noon in Foundation Hall’s Manzulli Board Room.
    Tom, who served for seven years as our vice president for finance and administration, passed away this summer. He was 54.

DaVinci Society honors seven, Sept. 30

    The Wagner College DaVinci Society will hold its seventh annual scholarship dinner on Thursday, Sept. 30 at the Staten Island Hilton Garden Inn, 1100 South Ave., Staten Island. The event begins at 6 p.m. with antipasto and wine, followed by dinner and the awards program at 7 p.m. Tickets are $125 each, $75 of which is tax deductible. Prof. Murphy aids on 'tugboat tour' Oct. 2

    On Saturday, Oct. 2, Wagner College art professor Bill Murphy will be the featured guide on a tour of the New York Harbor aboard the historic tugboat W.O. Decker, doing “color commentary” from an artist’s point of view.

Soccer soldier fundraiser, Oct. 3

The Wagner College women’s soccer team will be hosting a fundraising event for Staten Island native Brendan Marrocco, who became a quadruple amputee while serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq. The event will take place at the Seahawks game this Sunday, Oct. 3, when the team faces Central Connecticut State at Wagner Stadium.

Distinguished educator speaks Oct. 4

    Wagner College welcomes Pedro Noguera, an urban sociology professor in the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University, for a lecture on Monday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. in Spiro Hall, Room 2. The lecture is part of the college’s observance of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Mandala exhibition runs thru Nov. 6

    The Wagner College Gallery is proud to present an exhibition of mandalas, both two- and three-dimensional, by artist Mary Campbell. The exhibition runs from Oct. 6 through Nov. 6. A reception for the artist will be held in the gallery on Sunday, Oct. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. The public is invited. There is no charge for visiting the gallery.

Pork roast raises funds for ACS, Oct. 6

The Wagner College Biology Club is hosting a pork roast on Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. on the patio of Guild Residence Hall to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society. The club recommends a $5 donation for a plate of roast pork or other assorted meats and salads. The club expects to serve up to 500 Wagner College students, faculty and staff, in addition to members of the community. An information kiosk will provide information about breast cancer.
 

Charles Payne lectures Oct. 20

    Wagner College is pleased to announce that investment analyst and Fox News commentator Charles V. Payne will deliver the fifth annual Kaufman-Repage Lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. in Spiro Hall, Room 2. Payne's lecture is titled, "America at a Crisis: Not Settling for Mediocrity." The lecture is free, and the public is invited.

N.Y. Times columnist's lecture online

    If you missed last Tuesday's lecture by New York Times columnist Clyde Haberman, you can now watch it online. Haberman, whose lecture was sponsored by Wagner College's Hugh L. Carey Institute for Government Reform, addressed the question, “Do Politicians Serve Their Constituents Adequately?”
