FOX 5’s ROSANNA SCOTTO TO SPEAK AT DAVINCI SOCIETY AWARDS DINNER
Staten Island, New York – Rosanna Scotto, co-anchor of WNYW-TV “FOX 5 News at 5pm” and “FOX 5 News at 10pm,” will be the guest speaker at Wagner College’s DaVinci Society 3rd annual awards dinner on Thursday, September 28 at 6:00 p.m., at the Hilton Garden Inn, Bloomfield. An honoree at last year’s awards dinner, Eleanor Conforti is the chairperson of the event. Eleanor is a retired teacher with the City Department of Education and was a longtime chairperson of the former Community School Board 31.

THE BANALITY OF GOOD: Rescuers in Italy at the Time of Persecution
Staten Island, NY - Dr. Seymour P. Lachman, Distinguished Professor in Residence, Wagner College, will be hosting a program entitled, “The Banality of Good: Rescuers in Italy at the Time of Persecution,” on Tuesday, October 17, 2006, 7:00pm at The Center for Jewish History, 15 West 16th Street, NYC. This event is co-sponsored by Wagner College, The Center for Jewish History, and The Consulate General of Italy. There will be a reception prior to the program at 6:00pm.

WAGNER GRADUATE OF BROADWAY AND DAYTIME TV FAME, KATHY BRIER, TO PERFORM AT WAGNER’S HOMECOMING
In conjunction with Wagner’s Homecoming festivities, Broadway and daytime TV star Kathy Brier, will be returning to her native Staten Island to perform selections from her debut album, Heartbreaker, in her first major performance on Saturday, September 9, 11:30am at Wagner College, 1 Campus Road. The performance which is free and open to the public, will be held on an outdoor stage adjacent to the alumni tent which is set back on the west side of Howard Avenue. A photograph and autograph session will follow the performance.

Staten Island, New York - Effective January 1, 2007, the Certificate in Financial Planning (CFP) Board will require that applicants, in addition to meeting other existing requirements, must possess an accredited undergraduate degree in order to be considered for CFP® certification.

Wagner College Summer Camps Prove Learning is Fun!
Wagner College’s Office of External Programs offers a variety of fun, educational summer camps to students of all ages. “It brings me great pleasure to know that these young people are truly having a wonderfully fun and engaging learning experience,” says Maureen Connolly, Dean of External and Summer Programs. “This is evidenced by the repeat registrations, the smiles and the shrill laughter heard throughout the campus!”
NEW YORK, N.Y. – When professor Alison Smith joined Wagner College’s faculty in 1992, much of her teaching relied on what she calls “intensely impressive textbooks.” That’s changed, thanks in part to media-rich classrooms that feature wireless internet connections, LCD projectors, motorized writing screens, and banks of white boards.
In the course Urbanization, Civilization, and Collapse, a popular learning community for freshmen, professor Smith will project a picture of the lid of a bishop’s burial vault showing not the man in the prime of his life, but as a skeleton ravaged by the Black Death.

Former Sen. Seymour P. Lachman named Distinguished Professor in Residence
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Former N.Y. State Senator Seymour P. Lachman will join Wagner College’s faculty as Distinguished Professor in Residence when classes resume this fall.
“Sen. Lachman knows public service from the inside out,” said Wagner President Richard Guarasci of his appointment. “For four and a half terms, he struggled to bring reason to the inner workings of Albany,” President Guarasci added.

WAGNER FRESHMAN WINS BROADWAY WALK-ON ROLE
New York, NY – Appearing on Broadway, the dream of every aspiring actor, will become a reality Tuesday night (6/6) for 18-year old Wagner College freshman Brianna Horne, who was one of two winners of “My Broadway Debut,” in which students from colleges across the country competed on CBS’s “The Early Show” for a cameo role on the Great White Way.
