NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Wagner College claimed its third-straight MAAC regular-season women's water polo championship yesterday with a 10-4 win over Villanova.
The win came in the second game of the day for the Seahawks (24-13, 9-1 MAAC). Host Iona had handed Wagner its first league loss since 2004 earlier in the day, 7-6.

The Seahawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the early going only to see Villanova come back to tie it and both sides traded goals to tie the game at 3 at the half.
But in the third stanza, Wagner scored five times to Villanova's one to take an 8-4 lead into the fourth quarter where they added two more goals.
In the day's first game, Iona's Megan Hansen scored with 1:30 to go breaking a 6-6 tie and ending the Seahawks' skein.
