Project Pericles is sponsoring a student essay contest during this presidential election season.
The topic: “Which candidate would be the best president for the United States, and why?”
Entries must be between 750 and 1,000 words in length.
Each entry must address at least two of the following issues:
- the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
- the environment
- health care
- women's rights
- the economy
Project Pericles will select two winning essays representing different candidates. The authors of each winning essay will receive $250. Both winning essays will be published in the Wagnerian, the student newspaper.
Essays will be judged by a panel of Wagner professors.
Essays will be evaluated for clarity of argument, familiarity with issues and strength of positions argued — in short, the most compelling essays will be chosen.
Entries are due on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Submit entries by e-mail to patricia.moynagh@wagner.edu.
