2009 Undergraduate Award winners named at banquet

    On Friday, May 1, Wagner College held its annual Undergraduate Awards Dinner. The following awards were given:
    The RUGBY CLUB was awarded the New Organization Award for an organization that has responded to need in Wagner Community and set a tone for other groups to follow.
    ALPHA DELTA PI was awarded the Elsie N. Delo Award for the sorority achieving the highest academic average during the year.
    KAPPA SIGMA ALPHA was awarded the David M. Delo Award for the fraternity achieving the highest academic average during the year.
    MELISSA ALVAREZ was awarded the Panhellenic Council Award for exemplary service to the Panhellenic Council and for high academic achievement.
    CASSANDRE N. ANNARUMMA was awarded the Student Government Award for exemplary service, outstanding work, dedication within the student body, and exemplary leadership abilities.
    CASSANDRE N. ANNARUMMA was awarded the Wagner College Award in Chemistry for academica excellence in Chemistry.
    ALBANE BAJRAKTARI was awarded the Outstanding Student Employee Award for the qualities of honesty, dependability, initiative, leadership, and campus involvement.
    ALBANE BAJRAKTARi was awarded the Education Department 5 C's Award for the Education Major who best personifies the 5C's: a caring, curious, competent, committed, and community-active educator.
    ALBANE BAJRAKTARI was awarded the Gertrude Aull Award for demonstrating the greatest potential as a psychologist.
    YIRMEYAH A. BECKLES was awarded the Jack J. Boies Award For Creative Writing for excellence in the annual Creative Writing Competition.
    PRERNA BHATIA was awarded the Leader on the Horizon Award for a student who shows promise as a leader on campus.
    NIYA AISHA BRANHAM was awarded the C. Wright Mills Award for outstanding academic potential and embodying the spirit of sociological imagination.
    LAUREN S. BURNS was awarded the Resident Assistant Award for leadership within the Residence Education community.
    MEGHAN C. CARBONE was awarded the Diversity Action Council Award for a student who has furthered, exemplified or supported diversity issues at Wagner College.
    DEAN A. CARUVANA was awarded the Interfraternity Council Award for exemplary service and leadership to the Interfraternity Council.
    DEAN A. CARUVANA was awarded the L. Willard Knight Memorial Award for a fraternity member with the highest academic average during the year.
    MARCO F. CHIEFFALO was awarded the Modern Languages Award for academic excellence in the study of Italian.
    DAMIAN V. CSAKAI was awarded the Kurt Goedel Award for Excellence in Mathematics for outstanding performance and achievement in the field of Mathematics, based on GPA and performance in class.
    ANDREA J. DELONEY was awarded the Distinguished Leader Award for superior qualities of cooperation, decision-making, and management.
    ANDREA J DELONEY was awarded the Diversity Action Council Award for a student who has furthered, exemplified or supported diversity issues at Wagner College.
    SOPHIE R. W. FONNER was awarded the C. Wright Mills Award for outstanding academic potential and embodying the spirit of sociological imagination.
    YOLANA FUKS was awarded the Robert D. Blomquist Memorial Award in Biology for an outstanding biology student and of good moral character.
    AMANDA N. GLAND was awarded the Verrazano Memorial Prize for outstanding academic achievement as a History major.
    NICOLE A. KING was awarded the English Literature Prize for the highest distinction in English Literature.
    NICOLE L. MAHONEY was awarded the Phyllis Andors Award for outstanding performance as a History major.
    MICHAEL J. PINTO was awarded the Phyllis Andors Award for outstanding academic performance in Government and Politics.
    PETER PISANO was awarded the Biological Sciences Award for demonstrating the highest academic promise as a Biology major.
    DEREK C. RAMMELKAMP was awarded the Dreyfus Prize for academically outstanding work in Chemistry.
    ANDREW R. SHELDON was awarded the Class of 2008 Scholarship Fund for outstanding qualities in academics as well as service to the College.
    SHAUNA V. SORENSEN was awarded the Richard Gaffney Memorial Grant for given to support student work in Art.
    SHAUNA V. SORENSEN was awarded the Wagner College Award in Art for the highest grade point average majoring in Art.
    LEANNE M. SURACE was awarded the Sigvart J. Steen Scholarship Award in Music for excellence in choir performance.
    MARCUS H. SWIFT was awarded the DeRoche McIver Humor Prize for.
    JACLYN M. TOSCANO was awarded the Community Service Award for commitment to community service through campus organzations.
    SOPHIE REBECCA TRIPP was awarded the Distinguished Leader Award for superior qualities of cooperation, decision-making, and management.
    CHRISTIN MARIA VIVONA was awarded the Julio Cortázar Spanish Award for outstanding work in Spanish language and literature.
    MEGAN B. WAINER was awarded the Lee Yorgey Davidheiser Prize in Chemistry for academically outstanding work in Chemistry.
    JENNIFER WILLIAMS was awarded the Verrazano Memorial Prize for outstanding academic achievement as a History major.
