This weekend, a group of Wagner College students will observe the 10th anniversary of V-Day by staging “The Vagina Monologues.”

“The Vagina Monologues” is an Obie Award-winning episodic play written by Eve Ensler that first ran in 1996. Ensler originally starred in the production, playing all the various women who share their views about their vaginas with the audience; when she left the play it was recast with three celebrity monologists. The production has been staged internationally, and a cable television version featuring Ensler was produced by HBO in 2002.

In 1998, Ensler launched V-Day, a global non-profit organization that has raised over $50 million for women's anti-violence groups through benefit performances of “The Vagina Monologues.”

All Wagner College performances of “The Vagina Monologues” will be staged in Spiro Hall, Room 2. An open dress rehearsal is scheduled for Friday, March 28 at 8 p.m. Regular performances are scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 8 p.m., and Sunday, March 30, 4 p.m.

The producers suggest that those attending Friday’s open dress rehearsal contribute $5 for entry. Tickets for the regular Saturday and Sunday performances are $5. Proceeds will be donated to two women’s organizations: Safe Horizon, and V-Day.
