No one unit may satisfy more than two requirements. Foundation units must be completed by the end of the sophomore year.

| 3 are required for graduation; 1 in the first year, another in the sophomore or junior year, and 1 in the senior year (which must be in the major) | |
E. Disciplinary Perspectives (10 units) |

| Humanities | 3 units chosen from at least 2 subject areas; 1 must be in history |
| Social Sciences | 3 units in at least 2 disciplines |
| Sciences | 2 units in at least 2 disciplines including 1 in a laboratory science |
| The Arts | 2 units in 2 disciplines |
II. Study in Depth: The Major (typically 12-18 units) |
