After you’ve seen a WIT and revised your paper, you may find it helpful to check over your work once more on your own, using the following checklist as a guide:

  •   Does your paper contain a coherent thesis? Introduction? Conclusion? An original, informative title?
  •   Is your paper of sufficient length, with 12 pt. Type max., one-inch margins, and a standard font (e.g., New Times Roman)?
  •  Does the paper cover all the points required by the assignment?
  •  Are your thoughts organized in some logical, easy to follow way?
  •  Are transitions provided from paragraph to paragraph?
  •  Did you keep summaries reasonably brief?
  •  Did you support all generalizations with evidence?
  •  Did you cite all your sources?
  •  For quotations, did you use the Golden Rule? It goes: “If you use a quotation, you must comment introduce it, cite it, and comment on it.” i.e., did you signal to the reader, “Here comes a quote” in some subtle way, and tell them what to make of the quote afterwards?
  •  Finally, after making revisions in response to this list, read through the entire paper to check for grammatical and typographical errors.
